“W PEMBROKE COLLEGE W.&HUTTON _mmM_m_G__ CAMBRIDGE 14th December, 1976 Dear Mr.Williamson, Thank you for your enquiry of 8th December about William Broughton. According to Venn's, Alumni Cantabrigiedes, William Broughton was admitted as a Pensioner, to Pembroke College, at the age of 26 on May 7th 1814. He Matrioulated in the Michaelmas of the same year. He was a Scholar and in 1818 was 6th wrangler. I assume therefore that he read Mathematics as Eis main study. He became a M.A., in 1823 and a D.D., in 183 . The rest of the history given is probably already well known to you and concerns mainly his episcopal life in Australia. If you want any more details of what Venn says, I could send you a photo-copy. There is of course a good deal about him in the D.N.B. I hope this is of some help to you. Yours sincerely, W.S.Hutton, M.A., Assistant Libearian J.J.Williamson Esq., Beechmount, Bridge, Canterbury, Kent.
