so RORO Carp, Ontario, Canada. KOA 1L0 21 April 1980. Mr. J. Williamson, Beechmount, Bridge, Canterbury, Kent. Dear Mr. Williamson, Thank you very much for your letter received last week with the booklet of Bridge and St.Peter's enclosed. I was delighted to have it and to be able to see a picture of the church and the village. They really are very good and the text also gives a good description. It was most thoughtful of you to send it. I found all the information contained in your letter most interesting and can see that you have made quite a study of the local history. It's a fascinating subject. One of my White ances- tors — Richard White - joined the 1st Life Guards in 1848 when he was but 19 and was a lifetime member of that regiment. I wonder if he was inspired to join the army by all the military activity he must have seen in and around the village during his boy- hood in Brid.e, as troops m5ved"to and from Dover. Kn interesting thought. I have visited Canterbury several times but have never so far as I know, been to Bridge. However, if I do manage to go there one of these days I shall be pleased to accept your kind offer to show me the village. I'm sure it would be a most interesting visit. Again, thank you very much for writing, I very much enjoyed hearing from you. Sincerely, r/it/4 W) ..«»-"”"'” cllsawr’
