I wrote to you earlier this year about the Council's
plans first of all to BUY and then IMPROVE the Village Hall.

' Following this, I received a number of very generous
donations from individuals and also village organisations
and, as a result, last week (after protracted negotiations)
we were able to sign the contract for the purchase of the
Hall so now Bridge Village Hall belongs to Bridgei

Now we can turn our attention to the much needed
IMPROVEMENTS. Cllr. Gulvin has drawn up plans (shown overleaf
and these will cost approximately £28,000, This may sound
daunting but we are applying for grants from Canterbury City
Council and Kent County Council and hope to get substantial
help from them. Nevertheless we still have to help ourselves
and a small committee has been formed to raise money for the
project by holding fund raising events, starting with Carol
Singing on 14th, 15th and 16th December (see Parish Notice

I would like to ask YOU to help and you can do this
in a number of ways - we would welcome DONATIONS in any
amount either once and for all or even better an amount
per year covenanted for 4 years so that we can recover the
income tax, or LOANS in multiples of £20. These would be
interest—free and repayable at the latest by 30.4.88. A
fifth of the loans would be repayable each year to be
decided by ballot at the Parish Annual Meeting. These may
be from individuals and also we hope from other village
clubs and societies. Please don't delay - complete and
return the form below NOW to me.

As I said in my previous letter this is a tremendous
opportunity for the village. Everybody will benefit from
the hall at some time and I am sure you will want to help.
