Dear Mr. Williamson,

Instead of this note I had hoped to drop off the Library's copy of
Shackleton's Montesquieu. I Find, however, that the only copy which we
possess has been taken out of normal circulation, and is held in the
reserve section For use by undergraduates who consult it in the Library
during the day or borrow it in the evenings for use overnight.

we almost certainly could do with a second copy, and I have asked the
acquisitions department to order one. when it has been received and
catalogued I shall borrow it on my own card and let you have the use of
it for as long as you need it. inevitably, I am afraid, there will be a
delay of two or three weeks before we receive it.
