St. Stephen's lies about a mile and a half from Can- terbury, adjoining the parish of St. Dunstan. The village is small, but p|(-.usn.ntly situated amidst sylvau scenery. At the “ Beverley Arms ” are held the meetings of a Trap Club, one of the very few in existence for the cultivation of the old gnme of 7 “ Bat and 'l‘rnp.' The “ Beverley Arms " is an ancient hostelry with tea gardens adjoining, and affording good twcounnodation for the many visitors who walk over from Canterbury or elsewhere. St. Marys College, Hales Place, was founded in 1880, by French Jesuit Fathers. for e(lll(‘1I.tin;i pupils of French families, but was closed in 1890. The building is now occupier by young Jesuits applying to high religious and literary studies. The population of the parish is about 630. A portion of the residents appear under Canterbury. W. H.
