Bridge Traffic Calming Proposals Background Bridge Parish Council and Canterbury City Council met last December to discuss the details of the village traffic plan. The proposals on the plan were then agreed by the City Council's Highways Sub Committee in February. Problem Two problems were identified as being the most serious: The speed of traffic approaching the village centre from the north and the lack of pedestrian crossing facilities in the centre of the village, particularly at school times. Proposals To address the problems of speeding traffic, it is proposed to‘ extend the 30mph speed limit and to construct kerb extensions on the south bound side of the road. Zebra crossings are proposed near to the junction with Conyngham Lane and near to the junction with Western Avenue. An exhibition showing the proposals in more detail has been arranged at: Bridge Village Hall High Street, Bridge on Thursday 2 November 1pm - 7pm Friday 3 November 1pm - 5pm Saturday 4 November 10am - 4pm The exhibition will be manned by Members of the Parish Council and officers from the City Council who will be able to answer any questions you may have on the scheme. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire about the proposals. This will allow us to gauge the whole village's response to the scheme Please come along and make your views known to us.
