Dear Mrs Church

You will be delighted, I know, to hear that the items PC/BRI/Ml and M2 are indeed parish
council records, concerned with footpaths, broken seats, street lighting and all the other grist to
the mill oflocal government administration. The first item in M 1, dated 1894, is actually headed
‘A parish meeting, as required by the Local Government Act l894 ...'. The second item, M2,
contains more of the same. As far asl can see, the descriptions, including the covering dates, in
our catalogue are spot on.

It would have been a bad mistake for us to have made had they been PCC, for that would have
involved mixing up two completely different archival collections. So we can breath a sigh of
relief that our reputations are intact, while you can celebrate!
