Bridge Parish By Election 19 March 1998 To the residents of Bridge and district I am writing to you to ensure that you are aware that a by election has been called as a result of the passing of Reg Franklin. I and ten other residents ofthe district raised a petition to call the elections, because of my respect for Reg and all he did in the village and those others who wish the village to remain a close knit community. But not a non-progressive backwater, or dumping ground for crackpot housing schemes or industri- al units, whether for the young entrepreneur or not. This is a residential area, and is the needs of the residents and those businesses that serve them which are the responsibility of the Parish Council, and it is to see that these needs are properly addressed that I am standing at this by election. The Parish Council do not wish to pay for voting cards to be produced which is another reason for this notice. ‘My Background’ I am a retired engineer and 64 years of age. I have had managerial experience and my own business. I also established and ran an advisory service for the sick, elderly and disabled in Ashford for ten years. I have lived in Bridge for fourteen years and am disabled as the result ofa car accident in 1972, but still remain active. I am past Chairman and National Executive member of the Disabled Drivers Association. Last year I encouraged the City Council to lower the kerbstones at road junctions from the Gate Inn to Rochester Avenue in New Dover Road. for the use of the disabled with scooters. The county highway department have said that they will deal with the pathways and kerbing up Bridge Hill soon. Let us all work together to keep Bridge the place we like to live in and be proud to be a member of its Community. yours sincerely it Prospective Candidate Published by: B.
