Comments: Please continue on separate paper if required. The Principles of the Scheme Three phase implementation over 15 years Housing: Mixed affordable and free market housing. Establishment of Village Housing Association to manage affordable (rent) housing. Continuing review of proposed housing type. Design and layout will take due regard of the conservation area status of the site. Amenities: New Village Hall lndoor sports facilities / encouraged shared use with school Opportunities for youth work Car Parking For village hall users and off street parking Safe access to school for delivery/collection children Extensive landscape scheme to mask the A2. Workshops: Small scale "good neighbour" workshop units. Improve job opportunities within the village. Opportunities for ‘home working’ Benefit to village "micro-economy". The Background Village Appraisal: Undertaken 1988- 89 by a committee of local residents to provide a framework for the future of the village. Recommendations: * Explore possibility of affordable housing * Encourage office/shop/cottage industry development * Support leisure opportunity for young people * Create off street carparking * Encourage pride in the village by improving cleanliness Parish Council's reponse: * Approached all local landowners to identify sites for affordable housing * Offer of land from Highland Court Investments was rejected as unsuitable by Canterbury City Council Planning Director * Offer from Cantley Estates included leisure facilities, mixed housing and workshops * Discussions with Canterbury City Council on development of the "Brickfields" site - not taken any further by Canterbury City Council who own the site * Exhibitions of partnership proposals and various public meetings Parish Council's continued action: * Formation of ‘Partnership’ between Parish Council and Cantley Estates Ltd * Development of ’Partnership’ scheme and its further public exhibition and public consultation * Representation to Canterbury City Council to include the scheme in the District Plan - declined by Canterbury City Planning Committee.
