CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL ARCHIVES T The Archives contain records and manuscripts dating from 742 for the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury, the Diocese of Canterbury, the Cit y of Canterbury, and parochial records for the archdeacdhary of Canterbury, as well as several small private coilections. The main collection consists of: 13,000 items printed before 1801; 16,000 printed l80l—l900; and 15,000 twentieth century titles. In addition, the Library houses about 3,500 books from the beginning of printing to the mid-nineteenth century which form the Mendham collection deposited by the Law Society of London. The Printed Books are administered by the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury in close association with the University of Kent at Canterbury.
