The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the routes described in the Schedule to this Orcer which connect - (i) two sections of the Upper Harbledown ly—Pass divided at the point Where the route of the main new trunk road enters the same, and (ii) the main new trunk road with other highways, and (iii)the Bridge By~Pass with the Trunk Road and two sections of the Trunk Road at a point where the route of the main new trunk road meets these highways at the places stated in that Schedule, (the highways along these routes being in this Order referred to as “the slip roads") shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into operation. 2. The centre lines of the new trunk roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan. \ 3. The Secretary of State directs as espe“tsany part of a highway which crosses the route of any of the new trunk roads the — (a) where the highway is a highway majutainable at the public expense by a local highway authority, the part in question shall be maintained by that authority; and (b) Where the highway is not a highway so maintainable and is not’ maintainable under a special enactment or by reason of tenure, enclosure or prescription, the Secretary'of tate shall be under no duty to maintain the part in 3uestion, until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. (b) "¢:.4"1 (a) 1959 (3.25 /c) S.I. 1970/1681 (1970 III, 9 5551) S C H E D U L E Routes of the new trunk roads The routes of the slip roads are the following: (1) Merger of the main new trunk road with the Upper Harbledown BX-Pass at Upper Harbledown A route south of Upper Harbledown to connect two sections of the Upper Harbledown By—Pass, leaving the Upper Harbledown By—Pass south- west of "Willow Down",passing under the main new trunkroad and rejoining the Upper Harbledown By—Pass where the main new trunk road merges with it (the new trunk road along this route being given the reference letter A on the deposited plan). (2) Junction with the A28 Thanington Road at Thanington Three routes to connect the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the main new trunk road with the A28 Thanington Road (the new trunk roads along these routes being given the reference letters B, C and D on the deposited plan). (3) Junction with the Trunk Road :_t_ _3»_~ia.;»o A route to connect the Trunk Road northwest of Bridge Village with the westbound carriageway of the main new trunk road (the new trunk road along this route being given the reference letter G on the deposited plan). (4) Merger of the main new trunk road with the Bridge B1-Pass at Bridge Two routes to connect the westbound carriageway of the Bridge By-Pass and the Trunk Road southeast of the point where the route of the main new trunk road meets these highways with that section of the Trunk Road which is situated northwest of the Bridge By-Pass, all such routes being northwest of Bridge Village (the new trunk roads along these routes being given the reference letters E and F on the deposited plan). 4.
