A Voyage Up the Mediterranean in the Swiftsure by the Rev Cooper Willyams contained “the first, the most particular. and the most authentic account” of the Battle of the Nile. Willyams, who was educated at the King's School, was chaplain of the Swiftsure, one of the vessels under Nel- son's command. At the battle, Nelson almost destroyed the whole French fleet. Willyams was an accomplished‘ artist and his book contains 40 aquatint views, including coastal scenes of Italy, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Rhodes. the Ba.learics _,and Gibraltar, as well as a folding map.
