Village by-pass: Few.road improve- ments will produce more delight and relief than the two-mile road by- passing the village of Bridge in Kent, to be opened tomorrow by Mr Gilbert, Minister for Transport (our Planning Reporter writes). The vilage lies on the A2 London-Dover road, and its narrow High Street has been one of the most notorious and dangerous bottlenecks in Britain. The road was approved in March, 1974, _after a 12-year campaign by villagers who several times disrupted holiday traffic and once travelled to France to v urge Continental lorry drivers _to complain about the dangers. Work began 22 months ago and was completed two months ahead of schedule. The cost is estimated at £3,200,000.
