History Society: The History
Society of Bridge and District
outing to Lullingston Castle and
Shoreham (Kent) last month, was
enjoyed by both members and
friends. The interesting trip had
been organized with the help of the
Women's Institute in Shoreham
who arranged lunch and tea, with a
visit to the Castle in the afternoon.

The society thanks them for their 3
hospitality.

The Works is taking place in the
village hall on every fourth Sunday
of the month except August and is
designed for children of - primary
school age but younger children

- are welcome if accompanied by an

adult. The sessions run from 9.45-

: 11.15am. and offer craft activities,

games, stories, songs and more.

League of Friends: The League of
Friends of Canterbury Hospital’s
supper evening in April, with a talk
on Pakistan by John Harris, was a
great success and not only much
enjoyed by all those who attended,
but raised £310.50 for its funds.
Elizabeth Stewart thanks all who
assisted with the event, as well as
those who supported it.

Veteran cars: A veteran car run
organised by the Kent Messenger
Group will be passing through
Bridge on Saturday June 19
between 9.15 and 10a.m.T11ere will
be about 40 cars dating from 1899 to
1918. Your correspondent as a
retired executive of The Royal
Automobile Club, recommends that
this is an event not to be missed.
The organisers hope that you will
enjoy this free cavalcade of
motoring history.

Church news: Open Day on
Saturday June12 from 10am to 6pm
at St Peter’s Church, Bekesbourne,
is to launch the Bell and Organ
Restoration Fund. Teas, coffee and
cakes will be served all day. The
bells will be rung between 11am 1'
and noon and between 2 and 3pm. If
you can play the organ take your
music and have a go! .
