St Lawrence and Highland Court Cricket Club Ksridge Village Newsletter — Spring 2010 Hello everyone, We are St Lawrence and Highland Court Cricket Club, situated in a most beautiful setting among the orchards behind Higham House at the top of the hill on the south side of Bridge. We are the community cricket club of the village and one of the leading cricket clubs in Kent. It is a friendly and family orientated club for boys, girls, men and women of all ages, whether you play cricket or not. CRICKET FOR YOUNG PEOPLE The club has a proud traditon in developing its youngsters. We provide coaching and organise matches for the following teams: Boys Under 15, U13, U11 and Under 9 and for Girls Under 15, U13 and U11. All teams have evening training at the ground and play matches in local leagues. We also run a Women's team who play on Sundays. Come and play, practise and learn cricket with the experts! It's on every Saturday morning and starts on Lift May’ to 18th September inclusive, 9.15am registration -— 9.30am coaching starts 11.30am coaching finishes. In the first week, please bring a one-off Registration Fee of £5 and £4 to play. After that £4 each week. Both boys and girls of all abilities are welcome. Parents are encouraged to stay, watch, have a coffee and enjoy the BBQ Please just turn up on the day! Natwest CricketForce Saturday March 26 and Sunday 27 March St Lawrence and Highland Court Cricket Club registered for this national programme that helps cricket clubs prepare for the forthcoming season. Over fifty adult and junior members volunteered their services during the weekend to complete a wide variety of projects at the ground. The club was well supported by several local businesses, including Laurie Wakeham, Bridge’s outstanding butchers who supplied bacon and sausages, which kept the hardworking cricketers fed during the day. GET INVOLVED IN THE CLUB Our club is run by volunteers. Even for those who don't want to play the game, there are almost limitless opportunities to get involved within club. BAR MANAGER NEEDED We need a club bar manager for the club. Approximate time commitment is 8 hours during the evening & weekends in the cricket season. No previous bar experience is necessary, We will be able to offer training on how to order stock, manage the bar, follow health & safety procedures and serve. If you are reliable person, and like meeting people, please get in touch with us. CRICKET SCORER NEEDED Are you interested in the game but do not wish to play? How about scoring for any of our senior men's Saturday teams? It would be about 8 hours a week, including travelling time, AND YOU WOULD GET PAID FOR DOING IT! You would need to be a reliable person, reasonable at maths and be able to concentrate. We can provide transport and we can also pay for you to go on a training course. CRICKET UMPIRES NEEDED Another way to get really close to the cricket action is to officiate the game. We need umpires to take charge of senior and junior matches. We are looking for people of all ages who are reliable, assertive and have a basic understanding of the laws of the game. Depending on which type of game you officiate, the hours per week range from 4-8 hours. We can also support you by paying for you to go on a training course.
