The meeting Chaired by Matthew Bell Agreed to set up the Company with subscribers: Marchioness 100 shares Marquis 20 Matthew Bell 50 2 Total 400 @ £5 Works to be erected by Messrs Drury & Co, Contract accepted 6/10/1858 Lighting to be provided year round except mid May to mid August and '5 nights at the full of the moon’ @ £4.10s per lamp per annum. Lamp posts to be erected in Bridge Street Gas tar to be 3d per gallon and 4d when retailed. Five tons coal delivered ~10th December 1858 Service pipes and meter provided for private houses. Tank to be filled from well on the premises (bell offered water barrel, if required). Lamp posts fitted and works tested ~10th December 1858. One ton lime ordered. Drury to complete the well and fix a pump.
