" 1131;»; 9.1.1‘ 12 June 1995 Dear Mr. Round, At the recent Parish Council meeting there was further discussion on the problems of the clock. it was agreed that Mr. Gray should be asked to attend a council meeting to advise on any future steps. This has now been arranged and he will be at the July meeting on Thursday 13 July at 7.30 rum. in the Hunter Room. The Chairman and councillors hope very much that you will be able to join them for this item. i enclose a copy of recent letter from Cornhill insurance concerning Parish Council liability and hirers' liability. it was agreed that i should seek further clarification from them since councillors did not think it feasible for all private hirers to hold public liability as suggested. You may aiso like confirmation that alterations to the serving hatch were agreed in principle subject to satisfactory estimates. The Parish Council would like someone to keep an eye on the project and are making an approach to a local resident who may be able to help. The clock has been removed from its external mountings on the Village Hall and is stored at ground level in the hall itself. I suggest we meet in the car park of the White Horse PH, which is on the left-hand side of the High Street, approached from the Canterbury direction. it should be possible to park there for a short time. i enclose a map, showing the High Street. Bridge is best approached from the A2 southbound to Dover. Having passed Canterbury itself, follow the white signs for Bridge by filtering left on to the slip road. Take the right hand lane, turning right at the top of the slip road, crossing the A2 bridge and follow signs for Bridge. At the cross roads turn left into Bridge High Street. The White Horse PH is about five hundred yards on your left. it should take you approximately 75 mins from Croyclon but should you be delayed, you can leave a message at the offices of the Chairman of the Council on Canterbury 01 227 830881 (92 High Street). We would recommend that the clock is serviced once every twelve months and suggest that the first servicing is carried out in November. This date coincides with other service calls in the area and we are able, therefore, to keep our cost to a minimum as travelling expenses are shared with other installations. We enclose two copies of our Service Agreement Forms, which details the scope of the work we undertake and the terms involved. The cost of a single annual visit would be £95.00 (excl. VAT) and our normal practice is to invoice one month in advance of the service date. If these arrangements are acceptable to you, all that is necessary is for you to complete and return one copy, when we will schedule our engineers accordingly. We look forward to hearing from you shortly and if you have any queries concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us. There was little support for taking out any maintenance contract, especially in View of the proposed charges. More significantly, it was agreed that the clock belonged to the Village, not the Hall, and as such should be the responsibility of the Parish Council to maintain. The Committee therefore refers the matter back to the Parish Council and I return the documents herewith. Yours sincerely 31%/\ Ctofi John Corfield (Secretary) GILLETT; 3 JOHNSTON /\ «7<9 Kb“
