Whilst the council has no objection providing the ground is in a suitable condition at that time, I have been asked to request that you provide stewards to organise the parking to avoid damage to trees. Additionally the Council requests that you arrange for the clearance of any litter deposited in the parking area during the event. School, Conyngham Lane, Bridge, Kent CT 4 SJX Mrs G P McCornbe 14, St Mary’s Close Etchinghill Kent CT18 8NX 27th April 2001 Dear Mrs McCombe Annual Fete Thank you for your letter of the 24th April. The P.F.A. is similarly disappointed that the joint fete between the school and church cannot go ahead this year in its usual format. As I am sure you are aware, due to the extensive building works at the school much of the area necessary for the fete is unavailable to us. The P.F.A. looked at the cost of providing sufficient alternative services to enable the fete to be held on the recreation ground, however it was not felt that this would be economically viable. I understand that Mr Leggatt, Chairman of the Fete Committee, wrote to the Parochial Church Council at the beginning of the Autumn Term explaining the situation and this letter was read out by Mrs Williamson at their next meeting. It was subsequently decided that the school and the church should plan for a joint fete for the summer of 2002, and in the meantime would organise their own smaller fimd raising events. Consequently, the P.F.A. is pleased to advise that it is holding a Summer Bazaar on Friday 22nd June in the school. Space will naturally be rather limited, but all parents, friends and villagers are most welcome. I trust this will answer most of your concerns, but should Cllr Walder wish to attend the next meeting of the P.F.A., it is being held at the school on Wednesday 2nd May at 7.30pm. We too are disappointed that the Fete in its usual format will not be taking place this year. Unfortunately because of the building programme, the area of the school’s grounds available to us at present prevents us from having the fete. The PF A has costed the expense of hiring generators, marquees etc and felt that it would not be economically Viable to hold the Fete on the Recreation grounds. However the PFA is holding a fete more in the format of our Christmas fete on Friday 22“ June to which all villagers are most welcome. Yours sincerely éL~tltlc~ Mrs A Newton Head Teacher
