London address. Exhibited a marine in 1 868 at the S.S. SKILLETT, S. D. (fl. 1845-=-1 8 56). Worked along the lower Thames from his residence in Limehouse. Also executed views on the South coast and shores of Scotland and Wales. One of his paintings was of the Chinese junk Keying, which was navigated to England in I 849. The Walker A. G., Liverpool, has ‘The sailing ship, Lord Elgin’ by him. Trade labels on the stretcher of unsigned paintings read ‘S. D. Skillett, Marine and landscape painter, I9]ol1n Street, Crutched Friars, and 11 jamaica Terrace, Commercial Road, Limehouse.’ Titles at the R.A. include ‘Admiral Dralde entering Plymouth Sound after his voyage round the world.’ coll.
