Bridge and Patrixbournu The villages of Bridge and Patrizi- bourne will long remember the Jubilee. For, under a cloudless blue sky, a brilliant carnival procession proved a fitting prelude to nearly 12 hours at joyous celebration at High- land ;_irt-—festivities on such a scale made‘“possible only by the generosity of Mr. W. K. Whigiiam and the ener- getic efforts of ii Committee, of which Mr. J. Friend was tiie Chairman. After [Photo, Fisk-Moore , MR. W. K.-‘WI-_llGi-IAM the mile‘-long carnival procession had made its way from Bridge up the hill and through the 'gates_ of I-Iighlanci Court, it was estimated that some 1,000 villagers had entered tiie spacious grounds to take part in the service of thanicsgiving, conducted by the Rev. I-I. "Knight, which followed --the crowning performing the ceremony. Followed laughs, and not a few thrills, when Capt. Masiin's Riding School gave an appreciated musical riding display. One of the high peaks of the afternoon's entertainment was a display by the V.'Ol"l-CI""‘I‘lllki3 manner, quelling the {lame I a few moments. It was not without its humorous aspect. however, and many laughs were provided by the clever fooling of Mr. L. J. Williams and a certain "‘female" in a startling, if old-fashioned, negligée, who was seen to emerge from the smoking building, while the efforts of several members of the Brigade to rescue zi _dummy in the face of two powerful jets from the hoses proved most enjoyable-—h-. spectators! of the Jubilee Queen. All those residents who_ were too inflrm to follow the procession on foot were‘ conveyed from the village *0 Highland Court in-a special ‘bus and during the evening thc'King's speech wasbroadcast. -' "-V. -As darkness ' came; the eagerly awaited display of fireworks com- menced, and their brilliant beauty was much appreciated.
